As a result of manufacturing delays following covid-19 and the unanticipated increase in cat population, there is currently a European shortage of cat vaccinations with not enough vaccinations in Europe to establish and maintain sufficient immunity in our cat population.

We have been prioritising those cats that have highest risk of contracting disease to have the small allocation of vaccinations we have been provided, however we have reached the point where we no longer have sufficient stocks of vaccinations to continue to do this with the licensed European vaccine.

To ensure all your feline friends can remain safely protected, we have imported some cat vaccinations from America. These vaccinations are almost identical to the vaccines we were previously using, covering for the same diseases as the European vaccines and made by the same pharmaceutical company. Due to differing drug licensing requirement between the United Kingdom and America, we have to point out that the vaccination we may be providing is not licensed for your cat in the United Kingdom (although it is licensed in America) and off license signed consent will be requested. In some situations, your cat may require 2 injections rather that the normal 1 injection during your vaccination appointment.

Unfortunately the cost of importing these vaccinations in high due to the processes needed to be in place to ensure the temperature stability of the vaccinations during transit by air. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this shortage, but rest assured, we should have sufficient stock now for any of our clients cats that require vaccination for the next few months at least.
